Monaco put 5 past Birkenhead Boys

With the league title now secured, Monaco turn their attentions to the Cup, where they welcomed Birkenhead Boys to Kingsway. The BB have worked hard this season after being promoted, and have been on a great run recently as the second most in form team in the league (behind Monaco). Their coaches have done a great job in improving their players and side, and they came full of optimism, after they had beaten corsas the week before.

The pitch was perfect, freshly, cut rolled and marked, however the wind was howling right down the pitch from goal to goal.

Monaco got the game under way and quickly imposed themselves on the game with their passing. The BB were hitting long balls in to the channels for their very talented number 9 to chase. He won many corners early on in the game, but Monaco dealt with the corners superbly, with Charlie coming to punch, or players heading it away.

A corner for Monaco eventually saw Vlad play the ball wide to Isaac, who hit a low cross which made it's way across for Max to meet as he came in from the right and smashed it first time in to the roof of the net. 1-0 It was no more than Monaco deserved.

Vlad doubled the lead shortly after with a low free kick from the edge of the box, driven in to the bottom corner. 2-0

The game played out much the same as it had begun, with Monaco controlling the possession, but the BB defending really well to limit the chances. Ellis hit an effort over the bar, Zak had a long range effort go wide, and Ky was trying to find his range from distance.

The third goal came as a result of the best move of the game. Monaco played the ball about and then Ky turned as he received the ball, slipped it to Ellis who played him in first time before Ky slotted the ball past the keeper. 3-0

Ky had certainly found his range and as he received the ball again from outside the box, he bent an effort in to the corner 4-0.

Their keeper failed to deal with a Ky cross and Seamus slid in and buried the loose ball. 5-0

In to the semi finals where Monaco will face Chester. With Greenleas and West Kirby in the other semi final.
